The secret - when you can walk on water take the boat part 26

In a short while, we arrived in the Big City. It was, as always, impersonal. We parked the car and walked through the never-ending crowds to a waiting cab. Gideon handed the driver an address and a few minutes later we stepped out in front of a tall building on an obscure side street. We walked up to the door, entered the lobby and were soon on our way to the thirty-third floor.

We stepped out into a long hallway. I took a few moments to straighten my tie and comb my hair. At times the winds of the Big City could be exceedingly fierce. At the end of the hallway was a large door bearing a sign that said: “G & M Enterprises, Inc., World Headquarters.”

“These are the people you work with, right, Gideon?”

He was a bit more relaxed now. “Yes,” he said.“It’s about time you got to meet my boss. There’ll also be another friend of mine here. You remember Marla?”

“Marla will be here, too? Oh yeah, I forgot that she works for this company, too. It’ll be good to see her again.”

There was that twinkle in his eye and I knew that he was back to his old self, again. He pushed open the door as we walked into a reception area that was both simple and, at the same time, elegantly decorated. There were paintings of strange symbols on the walls. A receptionist looked up and smiled. “Hello, Gideon, and welcome to our office, John,” she

said.

“You look well, Mary,” replied Gideon.

“Won’t you sit down, please. Marla is here already. It will only be a few minutes,” said Mary.

In a short while Marla joined us and we renewed old acquaintances. She seemed quite pleased to see me there. The receptionist left for a few moments and when she returned, she announced, “The chief will see you now.”

She escorted us through the main area to an office with a sign on the door that read: “President and Chairman of the Board.”

“Gee, Gideon, you know the big boss,” I teased. As the door opened he said, “You’ll enjoy this meeting, John.”

We stepped into an office thickly carpeted in celestial blue. The office was luxuriously decorated and contained several lush plants dramatically placed throughout the well-lit room. On the far side was a large, ornate desk behind which sat a rather imposing figure. We walked over and Gideon proceeded with the introductions.

“John, I’m pleased to introduce you to our chief executive officer. He is president and chairman of the board of G & M Enterprises.” I noticed a tremendous respect, but no fear in

Gideon’s voice as he continued, “I want you to meet God.”

It s okay to shine

I've certainly had days when I wanted things to happen that just were not happening. Having come through so many frustrations though, I can honestly look back and tell you one thing that stands out as I've moved on from each of them.

Playing a Game

Looking back at where I was I can see that when I was stuck and frustrated I was playing a game. I've given that game a name. It's called 'Playing Small.'

When I played 'Playing Small' I believed there were barriers in front of me, stopping me. The usual barriers (some of which you might recognize) are the barriers such as time, money, resources and qualifications.

Many of these barriers have been deconstructed by my coaches and mentors. Once when I needed to make more money, my business mentor broke down what I needed to do into simple mathematics. That was all I needed to know. From their I could work out the rest and stopped playing small.

Another time, I was in a quandary over a family matter. I was sitting with my spiritual mentor. He just threw his head back and laughed at me. 'Why are you making your own life so tough,' he asked?

That was all it took for me to realized I was holding from back something bigger and better, by a petty process I'd put in place.

My coach helped me straighten out a head full of confusion. I had so many ideas and was using them as an excuse to procrastinate. 'I don't know how to construct this idea,' I told him. 'Easy,' he said, 'Stop playing the game of indecision. Make what you're doing simple and get on with it.'

That was all it took for me to stop playing small again.

Letting You Out

What my coaches and mentors have all done well is common amongst them all. They saw what I didn't see and helped the real me to be let out.

I see this time and again in my coaching. It doesn't matter if a client wants to run a successful holistic practice, gain promotion or control of their kids. As a coach, I see things they don't see.

Simply put, a coach sees the bigger picture, doesn't get caught up in all the 'stuff' of playing small and guides you towards your goal.

When you Shine, the World Shines with You

In the last month, (half of which I was on holiday) I've heard at least four 'Oh my God' gasps from my clients as they've just seen things they didn't see before on the other side of playing small.

Instantly goals became achievable.

One of the things I've noticed is that when an issue is put before a wise person, the light they shine on the dilemma transforms it. That's why I invest time and money with people who I deem to be wiser than me.

By investing in this way my life transforms faster with less time and energy wasted, worrying or wondering.

With Love and good wishes

You re not rich because your life is a mini drama

I realized that a major reason why people are broke is because it's wayyyyy more fun…Yeah I said it...it's more fun. I mean really, when you have money you already know the outcome; the outcome is whatever you want it to be...really not much creative effort there. What can I create if I already know what I will get? It's like playing the lotto and knowing you will win…what's the fun in that?

The fun in playing the lotto is not so much whether you win or lose but how you feel and the emotions that flow over you from the point where you decide to buy a ticket until the drawing takes place. The fun is to buy the ticket, hope you will win, think about all the wonderful things you will do with the money and sit in front of the TV with your heart in your hands as the numbers roll…the anticipation, the excitement...the drama. Will I win or not?…stay tuned to find out.

I realized that one of the reasons people are and remain poor is that it makes them feel alive. This is the key to a lot of life...This is the key to your entire life! Yeah we’ve all heard that the key to life and what people will do anything for is to survive, but if you break down survival what is it? - Knowing and realizing that you are ALIVE...

How do we know that we are alive when we feel that we basically live pretty boring lives? Well enter stage right our mini dramas that constantly remind us that we are alive. Throughout history man has struggled to survive…animals trying to kill us and we had to go out to hunt…but now fast forward several hundred years and most of us live away from deadly creatures, and the only hunting we do is in our grocery aisles, and so we have had to be a little more creative.

We no longer have the stories to tell of how we escaped a deadly tiger and killed it for food so what’s left?...For us to create these little story lines that show how difficult our life truly is and how we have conquered it. It's more fun to NOT know how you will survive for the next week; it's more fun to wonder where the money will come from to buy gas, pay the rent and then to figure out ‘Hey, I've got a solution!’ It's more fun to be in pain and anguish because you cannot afford something…Most people believe that having money is boring. What do rich people do all day?...shop, lunch and then spend the rest of their life bored silly…

Don’t believe me?...Let’s analyse this: When you are broke and you need $40 to buy gas you now have to think ‘How will I get to work with no gas? How will I get money to buy gas?’

There is a problem, and you can now become your own superhero, saving the day by figuring out ‘Hey, I’ll borrow some money from my friend Jo Doe to solve the problem.’

‘I’m a genius’ you think, then you have to go ask Jo and then wait for an answer, then you have back-up plans in case Jo says no…You feel embarrassed to borrow gas money, pain that you can’t afford the gas, anxiety about whether you will get the money, fear about running out of gas. Let’s look at another situation. Your rent is due…you have no money. You don’t answer your phone – can’t risk the landlord getting you on the phone…you hear footsteps…’Oh my god maybe he's coming!’ You are filled with paralyzing fear, anxiety, dread…what if we get put out on the street, we will have no place to sleep…everyone will know I am broke…Loads of emotions to keep reminding you how alive you truly are…

…but when you have money, the problem is already solved, isn’t it? Have no gas? Go to the gas station, pull out your wallet and pay for the gas. No problem! No emotion. Rent due? Write a check, pay the landlord. No emotion, no problems. No paid advertisers (we will come to that in a minute). No struggle, no solution to find…pretty darn boring don’t you think?

Most of us have spent 99% of our lives fixing problems, finding solutions. We can’t let a simple thing like being rich mess with a good thing, now can we?! You keep wanting to find solutions to show the creative genius that is you. After all, you must be alive or else you couldn’t have lived through no money for groceries. You couldn’t have lived through the gas drama and just like a soap opera…you never know what will happen next, so stay tuned for tomorrow’s show to see if you will have enough food, money, clothes, gas or if you'll even survive…

Spirituality information - journey in the fields of forever part 57

“Just a little of this and some of that,” he replied with a teasing smile.

“And how do you two know each other, Matthias? I thought Gideon had very few friends,” I kidded.

“He has friends all over the cosmos,” Matthias replied.

“He and I have had quite some adventures together. We go way back. It’s a long story.”

Gideon laughed and announced in a matter-of-fact manner, as if he were telling me about the weather, “Matthias is what you’d call an angel, John. He’s on a short visit here . . . .”

“An angel? You’re an angel, Matthias?” I asked in disbelief.

“Oh yes,” he said, “I’ve always been an angel. I’m sure you’ve met others like us. It’s great when assignments bring me this way. I don’t get to see Gideon and Marla too often.”

“You know Marla, too?”

“Who doesn’t?” he replied.

“But you aren’t dressed like an angel,” I said.

“They call him,” said Gideon, “the Angel with the Golden Wings. Show him your golden wings, Matthias.”

I knew they were enjoying seeing me so confused. As I watched, Matthias pulled up his left sleeve to reveal a bracelet. On the bracelet was a charm — a pair of little gold wings, the kind you might find at any good jewelry store. “These are my golden wings, John, a left-over from the old days when everyone expected us to have large feathery wings that flapped as we flew. It was quite a dumb idea because the stupid things would go unstable at high speed and, had it not been for our celestial flight mechanisms, you’d literally have seen many falling angels. But what can I say? The people expected us to have wings, so wings we had. Now I carry my wings on this bracelet as a reminder that if the Chief wanted me to have birds’ wings, He would have made me a bird.”

“He means every word of it John,” said Gideon.

Add i m late

Picture this: You just rolled out of bed. You have about half an hour to leave the house, but you're no good without caffeine, so you run to the refrigerator, looking for the coffee that you moved to the pantry six months before. Then, once you've managed to get the coffee going, you go into your underwear drawer, and while you're opening it, you see your brush, so you start brushing your hair. Then, you brush your teeth, and finally, you look back into the underwear drawer and realize that you still have things sitting in the laundry basket from the weekend, when you did the wash. So, you head to the laundry room, but you find the morning newspaper on the way and stop to read the headline story, that caught your eye, and after a few minutes, see that you're holding underpants. You shake your head, and on the way back to the bedroom, you realize that you forgot the underwear on the kitchen counter. By the time you're ready to leave the house, you're totally stressed out because you're late and it's the third time this week.

Does this sound like you? If you have ADD, you've probably had several mornings like this one. It may seem simple for non-ADD people to correct. Why, you just stay on task, after all. But for people with ADD, it's not that easy. No matter how hard we try not to be distracted, but that's just part of having ADD. Still, when you're trying to get the kids to school or yourself to work on time, it can become a real issue. You need a way to make mornings work.

One way to help with situations like these is to create ADD-friendly systems for ourselves. For example, if you have trouble getting it together in the morning... don't! Do it at night. Pick a time when you don't want to be watching TV or playing with the kids. Then each evening for a least two weeks, go into your bedroom and lay out everything you'll need to be ready to leave the house the next day. Get your clothes and shoes, your purse and/or briefcase, your glasses and keys, and any medication you may have to take. Put them all together. If you don't have an empty bed to lay stuff on, just put everything on and around one hanger. Just keep it all together. In the mornings, you'll be amazed at how quickly you're ready to start the day.

These kinds of systems are great for helping us to stay on track. But you have to make them ritual. Set an alarm, until you can set a time in your ADD brain to lay things out at night. But make it the same time every single evening, and then, once the routine becomes part of you, you'll own the day!

ADD distractions can certainly be frustrating. Mornings can be hard, if you don't have a system for dealing them. If this system doesn't work for you, find one that does. Nobody has to go to work upset every morning. Just try to set a routine in your brain--one that works for you.

Psychology of the hero soul

“There is the known, and there is the unknown, and in between is the doors.” – Jim Morrison

“Break on through to the other side...Where the day destroys the night and night divides the day...Break on through to the other side.” These were the famous haunting words sung by the American poet, rock artist, Jim Morrison of The Doors. With these words, he electrified an entire generation. And with these words, he began his own destruction. Morrison was talking about the great hero quest that he longed to take: to break on through to the other side, the dark side, the spiritual side, the unknown, and beyond. To penetrate the deepest darkness of his soul, enter on to the other side of pure light, and return with a vision to heal himself and his people. But Jim Morrison never returned from the dark side.

Jim was not prepared to enter into the dark side. He did not understand the psychology of the hero soul, and did not have the capacity to deal with the horror of his inner demons. Instead of slaying the dragon, his ego, he fed his ego with more fire and hatred. He set out to kiss the serpent, to ride the snake to the end of time and beginning of eternity, but he was swallowed by it. He was consumed by his own darkness.

The same thing happened with Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin. They got stuck in the dark side. By using artificial means, massive quantities of drugs and alcohol, they were able to shut the spinning wheels of their mind and receive a small glimpse of the other side. In their drug-induced trances, they caught the occasional beams of light on ‘the other side’ that penetrated their darkness with visions of poetic expression.

But they did so at a great cost to themselves and people around them. These visions may have electrified their generation, but they did not heal. They simply entertained people, and at best, during their peak, may have satisfied a small yearning inside. But their music did not elevate people to a higher level of understanding like Mozart, Beethoven, or John Lennon.

Joseph Campbell, in his book, The Hero with a Thousand Faces, beautifully illustrates the path of the hero: “the birth, life, and death of the individual may be regarded as a descent into unconsciousness and return. The hero is the one who, while still alive, knows and represents the claims of the super consciousness which throughout creation is...unconscious. The adventure of the hero represents the moment when, while still alive, he found and opened the road to the light beyond the dark walls of our living death.”

The penultimate hero is able to enter into the unconscious realm and beyond, still awake, and bring back the boons that elevate entire civilizations and create the titan works that give birth to cultural enlightenment. He or she has the strength, will, courage, and inner capacity to defeat the dark demons of the other side. Heroes also survive the cruel impact of the world. They learn to effectively deal with the initial, furious scorn and ridicule from people that don’t understand them upon their return. They learn to shatter the ego, and return transformed, offering people the life elixir to renew and transform themselves as well. They cause the illumination of the collective soul and liberation of the mind. The highest purpose of the hero is to provide a vision that heals our tribe called humanity.

Can we all aspire to become like this in our lifetime? This is a question that I cannot answer, because I have no authority to decide what is possible and what is not. The important thing to remember is that this work is a composite of the universal hero in a state of perfection. We only need to access a small fraction of this power to experience a new life with new power and new blood." [Excerpted from "Psychology of the Hero Soul," by Sharif Khan, Chapter 1.]

A snoring appliance that provides a solution for those sleepless nights

The most important restorative opportunity for the human body is the period of time during sleep called R. E.M. R. E.M. or rapid eye movement, accounts for 20-25% of adults total sleep time. These cycles last between 90-120 minutes. The typical adult has between 4-5 R. E.M. periods per night. These periods of sleep are absolutely vital to the ongoing health and restorative process of the human body.

Individuals that have chronic sleep problems often are unable to reach this state during nightly sleep routine. For a chronic insomniac or individual that has different chronic sleep problems, the inability to achieve R. E.M. sleep is ongoing; the individual can suffer many different health problems.

Individuals that suffer from chronic snoring are often deprived of the restful and restorative sleep obtained during the R. E.M. period. Snoring is defined as deep breathing combined with the harsh snorting sounds as the soft palate vibrates. There are many variations of snoring such as soft short quiet sounds or loud, harsh snorting and gasping sounds. Snoring is uncomfortable for both the snorer and their partner and with the very audible snorer; the entire household can be disturbed by the sounds.

Medical Technology Creates A Snoring Appliance That Guarantees A Restful Sleep

For the severe snorer, the medical field has identified obstructive sleep apnea as a medical concern. This is a medical condition that occurs when the breathing of the snorer is disrupted to such an extent that breathing is actually stopped during sleep. A snoring appliance has been created to assist sleep apnea victims and restore their sleep patterns and piece of mind; the Continuous Positive Airway Pressure machine, also known as CPAP (pronounced see-pap).

This revolutionary snoring appliance provides continuous positive airway pressure and airflow into the throat, keeping the airway open for clean and quiet breathing and prevents the blockage that was causing the discontinuation of breathing and the apnea to occur. The CPAP system prevents the snoring and apnea and provides everyone with a quiet and restful nights sleep.

It should be noted that the use of the CPAP system as a solution to the snoring and sleep apnea is a lifelong commitment. This snoring appliance must be used nightly to be effective. This is something that requires the ongoing use of the machine to provide the restful sleep that is desired, it does not repair the body but rather assists the body in accomplishing what it is unable to do naturally.

If you discontinue use, the snoring appliance is ineffective and the symptoms will return immediately. However, for those that are willing to make this nightly commitment, the restful sleep you have been seeking is no longer a dream.

Goals- they can fight depression

Depression is a small word but those who suffer from depression hate the very feeling. The life becomes a living hell for a depressed person. Nothing feels good. Nothing gives joy. One thinks of negatives. Anxieties attack from time to time and many times a depressed person stops caring about anything including life. It is indeed a very bad problem and with modernization, it is increasing. Doctors try their best to treat a depressed person with counseling and medicines, but what can a depressed person do to help himself or herself? Goals in life can help them. Let us examine.

A human being is a goal-oriented animal. The mind needs a focus to target. Without a focus, the mind wanders around. Achieving goals gives a sense of self-esteem and satisfaction. This cannot be obtained anywhere else. To feel good because we have done something creditworthy is a great medicine. It elevates our mind. It gives us new vigor and new joy. When we feel good about ourselves and get assured about our abilities, it removes negativities from the mind. That helps fight depression to a great extent.

One of the causes of depression is less self-respect. A depressed person generally thinks of himself or herself as useless. When the same person begins setting goals and achieves them, that sense of low self-respect goes away. This gives rise to self-esteem, which is important in fighting depression. The question is how to set goals that help?

Do not set very high goals. If you fail to achieve them, you will feel worse. Try to set small goals that are achievable. After setting these goals, write them and keep the paper with you most of the times. From time to time, read the goals again and keep planning and implementing strategies to achieve the goals. As you begin achieving the goals, you will begin feeling good.

How to reduce your asthma with yoga

Yoga has been a revelation for many people. They have found that they can improve the quality of their life with the power of yoga. Yoga combines both physical and mental activities, so it engages your whole body rather than just part of it. Some of the benefits of yoga include better breathing, easier relaxation and relief from the symptoms of asthma.

The reason that yoga can help with your asthma is that by using yoga, you will get your body back to a more natural state. Both your body and your mind will be less stressed.

Relaxation and deep breathing were made for each other. Both of them help you to calm down, clear your mind and re-energize your body. By spending a few minutes taking slow, controlled breaths and paying attention to your breathing rather than taking it for granted, you will notice that your breathing automatically becomes calmer. Rather than it's "normal", hyper-active state. In turn, this will bring more energy into your body and calm you down.

Try out this simple breathing relaxation exercise. Read the instructions through a couple of times and then start.

1. Sit down, making sure that your posture is good and your spine is straight as possible.

Place your feet flat on the floor and check that your knees are directly over your feet. Place your hands on top of your legs.

2. Gently close your eyes.

3. Concentrate your thoughts on your ribs and your lungs. Inhale slowly and deeply. Notice your lungs filling up and your ribs expanding outwards and upwards. Then slowly exhale, again noticing your lungs slowly releasing the air you've just breathed in and your ribs gradually going back in and down.

4. Repeat this routine once a day for up to 3 minutes when you first start out. Over the coming days, gradually increase up to 5 and then 10 minutes throughout the day as necessary.

Yoga breathing exercises have been shown to help sufferers of mild asthma. You may still need your medication and any other health devices, although you should notice that you need them less and less as you practice these techniques.
